Syncrosoft runs and maintains a central license server for the Syncrosoft eLicenser platform since the year 2002. The license server is the central component of Syncrosoft’s online license distribution concept. The end-user’s DRM tool, the License Control Center, and software vendors connect to the license server.

Secured License Transactions
Licenses are transferred securely. In fact, licenses are transferred exclusively between Syncrosoft’s hard- or software-based eLicensers. They never leave the protected memory of the Syncrosoft eLicensers. For instance, if an end-user downloads a license to his Syncrosoft eLicenser, the license is created inside the Syncrosoft eLicenser that is connect to the license server. A crypto-protocol is used to transfer the licenses from the license server’s Syncrosoft eLicenser to the end-user’s Syncrosoft eLicenser.   

License Server is protected by a Syncrosoft eLicenser
The license server itself is protected with the Syncrosoft eLicenser based protection. Each license transaction, e.g. a license download or a license transfer from one Syncrosoft eLicenser to another, is authenticated by a special Syncrosoft eLicenser that is connected to Syncrosoft’s license server. Using a Syncrosoft eLicenser on the license server side prevents illegal license creation and illegal license transactions.

License Transaction Database
A SQL-database stores Syncrosoft eLicenser related information. Each Syncrosoft eLicenser has a unique hardware ID. That makes it possible to record and monitor all license transactions or production related information for each Syncrosoft eLicenser separately. This information can be evaluated for statistics or marketing purposes and are an important resource for the vendor’s service and support teams as well.
Please note that no personal information of end-users is stored in the database.

Web-Based User Interface
Syncrosoft offers its customers remote access to vendor specific license transaction data. A web-based user interface assures real time access to this data. For instance, the vendors’ service and support teams can view the licenses stored in a specific Syncrosoft eLicenser, monitor the license transaction of a specific Syncrosoft eLicenser, or download license transaction statistics. The communication between the vendor and Syncrosoft’s license server is encrypted.

License Transaction Data Download
One of Syncrosoft’s services is to provide this license transaction data to vendors in real time. The data is distributed as encrypted XML records, ready to be imported in the vendors CRM tool. The data is very useful for marketing purposes, customer service and end-user support. 

Other Application Areas
The license server, in conjunction with the Syncrosoft eLicenser, can be used as a back-end for secured online stores or e-commerce solutions in general.

Privacy
Syncrosoft respects the end-users’ privacy. The license server does not store any end-user specific information. License transactions are identified by the Syncrosoft eLicenser’s hardware ID only.
