Syncrosoft DRM and License Server

Syncrosoft’s DRM solution is based on Syncrosoft’s hard- or software-based eLicensers, a license server and a wizard-based software tool, the License Control Center. The tool enables the end-users to manage, move and update their licenses.

Security of the DRM System
The security of the DRM system is based on MCFACT and the Syncrosoft eLicensers. MCFACT is a security technology specifically designed to make software robust against debugging, reverse-engineering and tampering. The Syncrosoft USB-eLicenser is a smart-card based crypto-processor, and the Syncrosoft Soft-eLicenser is a pure software-based, tamper-proof DRM module. They provide memory for storing licenses as well as crypto-services which are optimized for the DRM system.

Separation of Protected Software and DRM System
Protected applications include only a small protection module of Syncrosoft’s DRM system. This module implements protection functionality and is generated individually for each protected application. Independently from the protection module, the core services of Syncrosoft’s DRM system are located in external software components – the Syncrosoft License Control Package – and the Syncrosoft eLicenser. The MCFACT hardware link securely connects the protection module with the
Syncrosoft eLicenser’s DRM services. As a result, modification of the DRM system does not require any modification (recompilation and redistribution) of existing protected applications.
