What is a USB-eLicenser?
The Syncrosoft USB-eLicenser is an anti-piracy device that protects software applications and digital content. The tamper-proof memory of the USB-eLicenser serves as a secure “wallet” for licenses and protects them against viruses and manipulation. Each USB-eLicenser has a unique serial number.

How can I see the licenses stored inside?
The License Control Center tool allows you to view, manage, move and update your product licenses that are stored in Soft- and USB-eLicensers. After the Syncrosoft License Control Center has been installed you can find the application at the following location: Start menu ->Programs ->Syncrosoft

Where do I get the latest version of the License Control Center?
The License Control Center tool comes as part of the License Control software package, which includes the Syncrosoft DRM modules and USB-eLicenser drivers. The latest version is available at: www.syncrosoft.com/License_Control_Center-78-11.html

I get the error message "Calling init method failed" when I try to start a program. **NEW**.

  • This problem is solved by installing the latest Syncrosoft License Control package. Please download the latest version available at License Control Center Download.
  • Alternatively, you can transfer all licenses onto one single eLicenser. Use the Syncrosoft License Control Center to transfer the licenses. There is a dedicated license transfer wizard to guide you through the procedure. Additional help and information can be found in the License Control Center help. You need an active internet connection for this procedure.

My  licenses are gone.
Have a look at “My USB-eLicenser is not detected...”. If it didn´t help please re-install the Syncrosoft License Control package, use the recent version available at License Control Center Download. If you are still stuck, please contact the local dealer or distributor where you’ve purchased your software product. Provide them the affected USB-eLicenser serial number.

I have two or more USB-eLicensers with licenses. Can I transfer them onto one single USB-eLicenser?
Yes, you can do this with the Syncrosoft License Control Center. There is a dedicated license transfer wizard to guide you through the procedure. Additional help and information can be found in the License Control Center help. You need an active internet connection for this procedure.

Can licenses be transferred from LPT-eLicenser to USB-eLicenser?
Yes, they can! Please download the License Control version 5.0.2.4 from License Control Center Download. This software package includes a License Control Center you can use to transfer licenses from LPT- to USB-eLicensers. Perform an "Overwrite" installation as described in “The USB eLicenser is not recognized”. After the installation, start the License Control Center and use the “License Transfer” wizard to transfer your licenses. You need an active internet connection for this procedure.

I can´t transfer or download a license, I get an error about a pending license.
Possibly the last time you have used the License Control Center to download or transfer a license, the internet connection broke or something else prevented the procedure from finishing completely. Please consult the License Control Center help for troubleshooting. If you are stuck please contact your distributor. Provide them with all USB-eLicenser serial numbers involved and the activation codes you have tried to activate.

The USB-eLicenser is not recognized by my computer (anymore), though the red LED inside of it lights.
Just try another USB port at first to connect the USB-eLicenser to. If the selected port is connected with a USB-eLicenser for the first time, you will notice the Hardware Detection Wizard coming up on Windows systems. Do not cancel it, guide the wizard to install the USB-eLicenser driver automatically without accessing the internet instead.

Nevertheless, the USB-eLicenser is still not recognized and listed with a yellow question mark in Windows Device Manager, respectively not even this.

  •  Is the USB-eLicenser connected to an USB hub? Please try to connect the USB-eLicenser to a port directly on your computer. Especially when you use a passive hub with other devices connected as well you may be dealing with a power supply problem. The USB-eLicenser itself is not very demanding but maybe your hub just can’t deliver enough power for all connected devices. An active USB hub (with its own power supply) is generally recommended.
  • A note for users with nVidia nForce3 chipsets: Some older USB-eLicenser do not work with this specific chipset family. USB-eLicensers with a serial number greater than xxx 523 326 are nForce 3 compatible. If you have an USB-eLicenser with a lower serial number, the solution is to connect the USB-eLicenser to an USB hub, preferably an active one.
  • Please download the current version of the Syncrosoft License Control. This software package always includes the USB-eLicenser driver as well. The most recent version is always available at License Control Center Download. It is usually not necessary to uninstall previous versions. We recommend to connect all USB-eLicensers before installing a new Syncrosoft License Control version.

The USB-eLicenser is still not recognized.
Please do a complete new installation of the Syncrosoft License Control software package in "Overwrite" mode by following these steps:

  1. Connect all USB-eLicensers
  2. Download the latest Syncrosoft License Control from License Control Center Download
  3. Go to Windows "Start" menu, select "Run…", enter "cmd" and press [ENTER] -> This opens the command console window
  4. Drag the downloaded installer of the Syncrosoft LCC and drop it into this window -> This adds the complete path to the file to the command prompt
  5. Now add the overwrite option by typing " /o" after it, notice the space between the path/filename and the "/o" option.
  6. A valid command line should look like this now: "...any path\SyncrosoftLicenseControlSetup.exe" /o
  7. Now press [ENTER], this starts the Syncrosoft LCC installation in overwrite mode.
  8. Now reboot your PC.

Here are some more tips, for the very rare and insistent cases.

  • Virus Scanner, Internet Security tools and similar software could interfere with the License Control installer's driver installation routines. Disable such software temporarily when starting installation of software/drivers.
  • Please make sure you have installed a recent version of chipset drivers for your mainboard to ensure proper USB controller support for Windows. These drivers are often available on CD-ROM included within the mainboard package and are needed to make Windows fully aware of the infrastructure and components of your mainboard. If you want to be on the safest side, download the current chipset drivers from the vendor of the used chipset on your mainboard. If you are not sure where to find this information contact your dealer or the manufacturer of your computer or have a look at the manual of the mainboard.
  • The Windows Hardware Detection Wizard reports that the USB-eLicenser driver could not be installed. In this case guide the wizard to install the driver from a specific location and navigate to the folder: "C:\Windows\inf\synasusb.inf".
  • A problem with the so called "infcache" of Windows XP, sometimes occurring with pre-installed Windows versions: Uninstall the USB-eLicenser entry in the Device Manager of Windows, then search and delete the file "C:\Windows\inf\infcache.1", after that reboot computer and start an "Overwrite" installation as described in the section above, reboot and finally connect the  USB-eLicenser.
  • Manual remove of files related to the Syncrosoft LCC and USB-eLicenser driver. These files are in detail:
    • C:\Program Files\Syncrosoft*.* (delete all files in there)
    • C:\Windows\inf\synasusb.inf
    • C:\Windows\inf\synasusb.pnf
    • C:\Windows\system32\drivers\synasusb.sys
    • C:\Windows\system32\Synsopos.exe
    • C:\Windowss\ystem32\Synsoacc.dll
    • C:\Windows\system32\SynsoLChk.dll

After that reboot computer and start an "Overwrite" installation as described in the section above.
