The Syncrosoft eLicenser provides the following key features:

DRM System

• Compatible hardware- and software-based solutions. The Syncrosoft Soft-eLicenser is compatible to the USB-eLicenser. Product licenses can be configured to be valid for one eLicenser type or for both eLicenser types, and licenses can be transferred between Syncrosoft eLicensers securely.
• Online license distribution. Product licenses can distributed online to Syncrosoft USB-eLicensers and Soft-eLicensers using Syncrosoft’s License Server and the License Control Center end-user tool.
• Comprehensive set of different license types. Licenses could be perpetual product licenses or limited licenses for demo or trial purposes, licenses with limited number of starts, expiration date or limited usage times, etc.
  
• Protection of multiple software and content products. A single Syncrosoft eLicenser allows to protect multiple software and digital content products.
• No need for different builds. New and different license types can be created and linked to a protected application at any time of the product life cycle. There is no need to create different builds of the same software product for different applications, like demo or trial versions.
• Easy introduction of product licenses. The licenses of protected applications are stored securely as data. This feature enables the vendor to introduce new license types easily, even after a product is released. New licenses can be distributed online to end-users.
  

End-User Tool

• License Control Center software. The License Control Center is a wizard-based license management tool for end-users that allows them to manage, move and update their product licenses independently from, but under the terms and conditions set by, the software vendor.
  
• License Control package. The License Control Center tool comes as part of the License Control software package, which includes the Syncrosoft DRM modules and drivers. The installer for the package is ready-made for easy distribution on CDs or via downloads.

License Server

• Secure license transactions. The License Server is the back-end of the License Control Center software and authorizes product license transactions, like license downloads or license transfers from one Syncrosoft eLicenser to another, in a controlled and secure way.
• Web-based user interface. The License Server provides remote access to vendor specific license transaction data. A web-based user interface assures real time access to this data. Software vendors use the data for marketing purposes, customer service and end-user support.
• License transaction data download. The License Server distributes license transaction data to vendors in real time. The data is distributed as encrypted XML records, ready to be imported in the vendors CRM tool. The data is very useful for marketing purposes, customer service and end-user support. 

Security Features

• Secure copy protection. Syncrosoft’s MCFACT technology securely links software and digital content to Syncrosoft’s hardware-based or software-based eLicenser. Only if an appropriate product license is stored in the eLicenser, the protected software and content can be used.
• Robust program code. Syncrosoft’s MCFACT technology protects the software’s program code and makes it resistant against debugging, reverse-engineering, analysis, illegal re-use and tampering.
• Hardware-based protection. The Syncrosoft USB-eLicenser™ is the hardware-based protection module of Syncrosoft’s anti-piracy technology. The USB device is a crypto-processor with tamper-proof memory for license storage.
  
• Software-based protection. The Syncrosoft Soft-eLicenser™ is a pure software-based protection module and provides the same feature set as the Syncrosoft USB-eLicenser, but on a different security level. It is protected with the MCFACT technology, locked to the end-user’s computer and stores licenses encrypted on the hard disk.
• High-speed encryption and decryption algorithms. The digital content protection provides high-speed encryption and decryption algorithms that are optimized for the protection of video and audio data.
• Standard encryption algorithm support. Besides the high-speed encryption algorithms, the digital content protection includes standard encryption algorithms, e.g. DES, TDES and AES.

Other Features

• Broad platform support. All major PC platforms, including operating systems like Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Mac OS X, are supported.
• Flexible protection. The software developer selects the program features that should be MCFACT-protected and linked to Syncrosoft’s eLicenser. There is no need to protect the entire program. The protection of a collection or combination of small but important software parts could be more than sufficient.
• Combined protection. The content protection might be deployed in combination with the software copy protection technology. The combination of protected digital content and a protected playback-device in fact increases the security for the content.
• Easy-to-use digital content protection API. Syncrosoft provides a digital content protection API to handle protected content. The API can easily be integrated in applications by adding a few lines of program code.
